"Florence Library Advocacy Group (F.L.A.G.)"***
ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
When: Wed., June 29th, 2005 7 P.M.
Where: Florence Library, 30th & Bondesson ()
Who: Interested Community Leaders, Business Owners, Florence Area
Residents, Parents, etc.
GOAL: To advocate with the Omaha Library Board, Omaha City Council and
Mayor for expansion/renovation of the Florence library.
Millard, Abrahams & Swanson are already large facilities. Benson branch
renovation has been completed. South Omaha is achieving expansion with
the facility merger with the Metro Community College Library.
Washington branch is in the process of its expansion/renovation.
It's Florence's turn.
NEEDED: A significant addition and building renovation: Expanded
shelving space; a community meeting room; an expanded Children's area
(that can be closed off during exuberant programming); additional
computers and computer space; and an enlarged staff work area.
Advocacy is needed otherwise it will be too easy to ignore Florence and
focus on other projects. The plan is for F.L.A.G. to consistently keep
Florence in the vision of the Library Board and City Council, to meet
the growing needs of our local community.
