You can click on any picture below to start with. The pictures will be displayed in a new browser without all the normal browser buttons so that more of the image can be displayed near the top of the screen. You can rotate forward or backward through the pictures by clicking on the graphic to the left and right of the "Florence" title. The "Florence" title will close the window if you click it on the first picture in the series. For the others, it simply acts as another back button. Clicking on the image area itself will advance to the next image. Similar controls are located below the images. You will not see these if your display is set to 800x600 or lower unless you scroll the window down. You can click on Index to get back to this page but it will be displayed in the browser without the extra buttons at the top. The best way is to close the window. You can also close the new window with the "Close Window" button below the image or click on the in the upper right.
These pictures were taken for the web and not intended for printouts. The digital camera was set to 640x480 resolution and 180 pixels per inch. This amounts to a physical size of 3.5 inches by 2.6 inches. The enlarged views are at the full 640x480 pixels. At this resolution, a physical print should be limited to the 3.5x2.6 image. If a glossy printout is desired, we can make one for $1 per image (plus $2 S&H).* The money will be donated to the Florence Historical Foundation.
